He was born in Kano, Kano State, Nigeria, to Pharmacist Geoffrey Kalio Daniel-Kalio (of blessed memory) and Mrs. Koru Daniel-Kalio, both from Okrika in Rivers State.

He began his education at Township School, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1974. He proceeded to Archdeacon Crowther Memorial Girls’ School, Elelenwo, earning his WASC in 1979.

He later attended Rivers State School of Basic Studies, Port Harcourt, where he obtained his IJMB A-Level certificate in 1980.

He earned a B.A (Hons) in History from the University of Lagos in 1983, and after completing his NYSC in Owerri, he proceeded to the University of Benin, where he obtained his LL.B (Hons) in 1991.

He attended the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1993.

Early Career and Professional Experience

Following his legal training, he completed his chamber attachment at Okocha & Okocha (Manuchim Chambers), Port Harcourt.

He began his professional career in the banking sector with Peak Merchant Bank Ltd, Port Harcourt, where he worked as an Executive Trainee/Legal Officer.

He later joined the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) as a pioneer staff and served as a Special Consultant in Abuja, contributing to initiatives promoting democracy, good governance, rule of law, and accountability.

Judicial and Administrative Career

Hon. Justice Odiki Daniel-Kalio served for over 14 years as a Magistrate in the Rivers State Judiciary, gaining extensive judicial experience.

In July 2015, he was appointed Deputy Chief Registrar (Administration) of the Rivers State Customary Court of Appeal.

He later became Acting Chief Registrar in November 2017 and was confirmed as the substantive Chief Registrar in January 2019.
