Hon. Justice Bright N. L. Deemua is a distinguished Judge of the Customary Court of Appeal, Rivers State, known for his rich legal background, dedication to justice, and strong commitment to both professional and community service.
He was born on 2nd August 1966 in Kpong Community (formerly Bori Division), now in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
He began his primary education at State School Kor/Kpong (1971–1976) and proceeded to Government Sea School, Isaka, where he completed his secondary education between 1976 and 1981.
He later studied Law at Rivers State University of Science and Technology (now Rivers State University), Port Harcourt, from 1989 to 1994, earning his LL.B degree. He attended the Nigerian Law School (1994–1995) and was called to the Bar on 22nd March 1995.
Before pursuing a full legal career, he worked at Acetoys & Plastics, Trans-Amadi, Port Harcourt (1983–1987), and later with Tractor & Equipment Division of UAC Nigeria Ltd, Kano Branch (1988–1989).
After his call to the Bar and completion of NYSC in Anambra State (1995–1996), he began private legal practice.

He later relocated to Port Harcourt in 2000, worked briefly with Joi Yowika & Co. and Celestine Omehia & Associates, and re-established his law firm in 2001, where he remained in active practice until his judicial appointment.
Hon. Justice Deemua was appointed to the Bench on 29th July 2016 as a Judge of the Customary Court of Appeal, Rivers State.
Since his appointment, he has contributed to the development and application of customary law, ensuring fair and culturally grounded justice within the judicial system.
He is a member of the International Dispute Resolution Institute (IDRI), reflecting his engagement with alternative dispute resolution and global legal practices.
Hon. Justice Deemua is a devoted Christian and serves as a Pastor in the Deeper Life Bible Church.
He is married and blessed with four children (two boys and two girls). His hobbies include reading, praying, singing, football, table tennis, and swimming.
